Buffalo-Mt. Pisgah is an all volunteer fire department located in the northeastern corner of Kershaw County about 25 miles from Camden.  We are a member of the Kershaw County Fire Service, serving the Mt. Pisgah, Buffalo, Abney, Gates Ford, and Timrod Communities.  The Chief is the main officer in control of the department.  The fire department is a separate organization and is not associated with the Mt. Pisgah-Buffalo Rescue Squad.

Being one of the first rural fire departments in Kershaw County, the department was started in 1967 by community members (See
History page for more details). Today, we operate out of 2 stations that protects a primarily residential/agricultural area of 88 square miles, the largest district in Kershaw County. Currently we have 19 active members, 6 are certified interior structural firefighters.  Of those six, two are certified to NFPA Firefighter II level.  14 are certified Medical First Responders.  We have an ISO rating of 7/10. We are dispatched to our calls by Kershaw County 911 Dispatch out of Camden.

We receive/provide mutual aid from/to
Kershaw County Stations: 14 (Cassatt), 18 (Westville), 20 (Bethune) Lancaster County Stations: 7 (Flat Creek) , 11 (Kershaw) and Chesterfield County: Sandhill Fire Dept. We are funded by property taxes of the residents we serve, donations, and fundraisers. We are always needing volunteers and welcome anyone who wishes to do so to call 803-475-3711.
