Buffalo-Mt. Pisgah is an all volunteer fire department located in the northeastern corner of Kershaw County about 25 miles from Camden.  We are a member of the Kershaw County Fire Service, serving the Mt. Pisgah, Buffalo, Abney, and Gates Ford Communities.  The Chief is the main officer in control of the department.

Being one of the first rural fire departments in Kershaw County, the department was started in 1967 by community members (See
History page for more details). Today, we operate out of 2 stations that protects a primarily residential/agricultural area of 88 square miles. Currently we have 16 active members, 10 of whom are certified interior firefighters. We have an ISO rating of 9/10. We are dispatched to our calls by Kershaw County 911 Dispatch out of Camden.

We receive/provide mutual aid from/to Lancaster County Stations: 7 (Flat Creek) , 11 (
Kershaw) , Kershaw County Stations: 18 (Westville), 20 (Bethune), and Chesterfield County: Sandhills Fire Dept. and Alligator Fire District. We are funded by property taxes of the residents we serve, donations, and fundraisers. We are always needing volunteers and welcome anyone who wishes to do so to call 803-475-3711.
